Job Readiness Training and Legislative Advocacy Training:  Join Progress Center for Independent Living for this 10-week course. Each week will feature two classes — Job Readiness and Legislative Advocacy.  Classes begin Tuesday, April 3, and then run each Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. until June 5, 2018.

Support and Organizing Groups

“Dynamic People with Disabilities” is a support group that meets the fourth Thursday of each month in the Progress Center Blue Island Office. For information about this group, contact Kim Liddell at or 708-388-5011.

Support Group for People who are Blind and Low Vision is a peer group that meets on the fourth Monday of each month from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Progress Center office in Forest Park.  For information about this group, contact Horacio Esparza at or 708-209-1500.  Click here for web page  Flyer-Blind Low Vision Support Group

Support Group for Latinos with Disabilities is a peer group for Latinos with disabilities.  The group meets in the office in Blue Island, Illinois.  For information about this group, contact Raul Castro at or 708-388-5011. 

The Membership and Outreach Committee meets the third Wednesday of everyone month at the Forest Park Progress Center office. All members of the community are invited to participate.  At the monthly meetings, the committee covers:

  • Issues impacting the lives of people with disabilities
  • Advocacy Opportunities, Rallies and Actions
  • Upcoming events at Progress Center
  • Disability Related Events in the Community
  • Bills and Legislation which affect the Disability Community
  • How you can get involved and work to improve society for People with Disabilities.
